ATLANTA, Ga. - In the ASUN Conference's newest video initiative, The Lunch Box, ASUN Director of Social Media Kendrell Watkins catches up with member coaches and student-athletes each week throughout the 2019-20 academic year. Sept. 24 | Liberty Women's Cross Country Runner Adelyn Ackley
This week's episode features Liberty Cross Country runner Adelyn Ackley after an impressive start to her freshman season. The Michigan native gives a glimpse into her thought process prior to her first collegiate race along with the adjustment from high school to collegiate cross country. She discusses some of her training drills at Liberty in addition to the team and individual goals this season. Ackley also mentions how she got into running and her hobbies of fishing and hunting. As an added bonus, Adelyn gives Kendrell some tips on getting his mile under the 10:00 mark.
Ackley won the first two races of her college career, the Liberty Challenge 4K and FGCU Invitational 5K, by 1:08 and 57 seconds, respectively. Her performances in those events earned her ASUN Runner and Freshman of the Week honors for the first two weeks of the 2019 Cross Country season. She led the Flames to victories in both meets and the team currently ranks 12th in the Southeast Region of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's regional rankings.
