Teams Head into the Third Weekend of Women's #ASUNXC Action

ATLANTA, Ga. - The 2019 ASUN Conference Women's Cross Country season continues this weekend with five league squads hitting two different courses. FGCU, Jacksonville, North Florida, Kennesaw State and Lipscomb are in action.

The day's slate begins at the Mountain Dew Invitational 5K with the Eagles, Dolphins and Ospreys toeing the line in Gainesville for an 8:30 AM start time. The Commodore Classic at Percy Warner Park features two conference teams in its field with the Owls and Bisons getting started in Nashville at 9:15 AM CT. This site has been the host of four ASUN Championships, with the most recent in 2013.

Saturday Races
FGCU at Mountain Dew Invitational 5K - Mark Bostick Golf Course - 8:30 AM
- The Eagles placed third in last week's home invitational 5K at the Buckingham Course, site of the 2019 ASUN Cross Country Championship
- In just her second collegiate race, Gianna Citarella led the team coming in 10th overall with a time of 20:00.99
- The Eagles ended with four top-25 finishers; Citarella, Jillian Felton (20:20.18, 13th), Emily O'Connor (20:40.33, 16th) and Julia Filip (21:07.84, 23rd)

Jacksonville at Mountain Dew Invitational 5K - Mark Bostick Golf Course - 8:30 AM
- This weekend's race is the first for the Dolphins 2019 season who run again next weekend at the Asics Embry-Riddle Classic
- The team placed sixth overall in last year's Mountain Dew 5K Invitational; returning sophomore Hayleigh Palotti had a time of 17:43.1 to finish 16th
- The Jacksonville roster features a solid mix of juniors (3), sophomores (4) and one freshman

North Florida at Mountain Dew Invitational 5K - Mark Bostick Golf Course - 8:30 AM
- Grace Gumpel (11:37.39) led the Ospreys with a fifth-place finish in their Aug. 30th three-mile dual meet against Florida
- UNF saw two other runners cross the finish line in the Top-10 with and Raquel Lespasio (11:47.33, 10th) and Camryn Cooney (11:51.31)
- The Ospreys finished second in the 2018 Mountain Dew 5K; Gumpel is the team's top returner from last year's race

Kennesaw State at Commodore Classic 6K - Percy Warner Park - 9:15 AM CT
- The Owls opened the season on Aug. 30th at the Bulldog Invitational where they placed third in the 4K run
- Katie Meyer led the team with a time of 14:16.0 to finish 16th; she was followed by Sarah Hendrick (14:35.5, 22nd) and Rachel Van Amburgh (14:36.3, 23rd)
- After not participating last year, the Owls return to the Commodore Classic where they finished 14th in 2017

Lipscomb at Commodore Classic 6K - Percy Warner Park - 9:15 AM CT
- The Bisons finished fifth in their season-opening 5K race at the Belmont Opener led by junior Lindsey Marriott (19:48.01, 25th)
- Other top finishers for the team were Ayse Allison (19:53.02, 27th) and Haley Humphrey (20:10.42, 30th)
- Lipscomb is the defending ASUN Champion having totaled 29 points in last year's meet to secure the program's seventh title
