EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Lipscomb cross country team dominated the Evansville Invitation on Saturday as the Bisons swept both the men's and women's team and individual titles.
The men's team notched first place in the 8K with a total score of 15 points, while the women's squad earned first in the 5K with a score of 18 total points.
Senior Brooke Kingma won the individual women's race with a blazing time of 17:47.0, while junior Zach Israel sped to a time of 25:21.6 to win the men's individual race.
On the men's side, the Bisons took the top ninth spots. Following Israel in first place were: junior John Green (25:25.5), sophomore Patrick Smith (25:32.3), junior Kyle Johnson (25:33.0), junior Andrew Ayers (25:33.5), sophomore Jonathan Schwind (25:36.3), and freshmen Jared Touart (25:54.6) and Adan Rodriguez (25:59.8).
Junior Sam Shaylor (16:08.5) and freshman Sam Kuhn (26:14.8) were close behind in 13th and 14th.
The Lipscomb women earned four of the top five spots, with sophomores Kayla Rudie (18:00.7), Lauren Flynt (18:02.5), and Grace Lahey (18:17.1) following Kingma in second, third, and fifth.
Sophomores Lindsay Marriott (18:35.4) and Haley Kling (18:38.7), junior Hannah Owens (18:40.9), and senior Bridgette Doucet (18:50.8) rounded out the top 10 in seventh through 10th, while freshman Ayse Allison (19:12.7) and senior Clare Losito (19:25.1) were close behind in 13th and 16th.
The Purple and Gold will start the postseason on Oct. 26 at the ASUN Championship in New York City.
