Gray, E. Meyer & Powell Earn All-American Honors at NCAA Championship

LakePoint, Ga. - For the first time since 2013, the ASUN Conference sent three student-athletes to compete in individual events at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend. North Florida's Eden Meyer is the first Osprey to compete in the finals since Brianna Frazier in 2012, while Kennesaw State's Jordan Gray and Jocselyn Powell were the first Owls to make the Championship while not running in relays.

With 5,621 points in the heptathlon, Jordan Gray finished competition just 20 points short of tying her career best. The sophomore's total placed her seventh overall in the meet to gain First Team All-American status for the first time in her young career. Gray is just the fifth Women's ASUN Track and Field athlete to earn First Team honors during the outdoor season, and just the second to do so in the combined events. The Kennesaw State multi-athlete set personal records in the javelin (39.97m), the 800m (2:27.17) and the 100m hurdles (14.29), while her 1.72m in the high jump set a season-high.

Eden Meyer beat her East Preliminary finish in the 10,000m by nearly five seconds this Thursday with a time of 33:54.58. Her pace was good enough to earn the UNF long distance runner 15th place overall and the first Second Team All-American honor in program history. Meyer's time fell just short of the career best she set at Raleigh Relays earlier this season (33:43.36), but still finished a full minute better than any other athlete in the ASUN this season.

Jocselyn Powell earned All-American Honorable Mentions after running a 1:00.97 in the 400m hurdle semifinal. Powell's time fell short of qualifying for the NCAA Championship Finals along with the 58.10 she set at NCAA East Prelims two weeks earlier. The junior's pace at prelims was a career best, and a full two seconds faster than any other ASUN athlete this season.
