Jacksonville, Fla. - 
The 2018 ASUN Women's Tennis Championship begins Friday, Apr. 20 with four squads competing in the first round of matches. No. 4 Stetson begins the day facing off against No. 5 Kennesaw State with a 2:30 PM ET start, while No. 3 Lipscomb takes on No. 6 NJIT for a 5 PM ET match up.

No. 1 FGCU and No. 2 North Florida recieved first round byes and await which opponent they face Saturday in the ASUN Championship Semifinals.

Team-by-Team Breakdown

Kennesaw State Owls
(3-14; 2-4 ASUN)
The Owls face Stetson in the first round of the ASUN Championship on Friday. The last postseason match up between the two squads came back in 2012.
- Kennesaw State looks to advance to its first-ever ASUN Semifinal match in program history on Friday versus the Hatters. 
- During the regular season, the Owls dropped a 6-1 decision to Stetson. Their lone point came by way of Kennedy Craig in No. 3 singles as Stetson's Lucie Renault retired. 

Lipscomb Bisons
(10-11; 4-2 ASUN) 
- Lipscomb enters the ASUN Championship as the No. 3 seed, which is the highest in Bisons program history. 
- The Bisons last ASUN Championship victory came in 2015 when they defeated former league member, Northern Kentucky 4-0.  
- In the last match of the regular season, Lipscomb almost blanked NJIT 6-1. The two programs have never met in the ASUN Championship. 

NJIT Highlanders
(8-11; 1-5 ASUN)
- NJIT looks to become the first No. 6 seed to defeat a No. 3 seed since 2002 when Campbell took down FAU 4-3.
- The Highlanders grabbed their first-ever win in an ASUN Championship last season beating Kennesaw State 4-3. 
- Against Lipscomb this year, NJIT's Amanda Helminsky took the Highlanders' lone singles win at the No. 5 spot over Thabile Tshatedi. 

Stetson Hatters
(11-8; 3-3 ASUN)
- Stetson searches to advance to its third-straight ASUN Semifinal on Friday with a win versus No. 5 Kennesaw State. 
- As the No. 4 seed last season the Hatters defeated Lipscomb 4-2 in the first round. To date Steton has a total of 16 ASUN Championship Semifinal appearances. 
- The Hatters lead the ASUN Championship series over Kennesaw State 2-0. In 2012 Stetson defeated the Owls in the first round 4-0.
