LakePoint, Ga. - After another week of ASUN Women's Tennis action, North Florida and FGCU sit atop the standings undefeated in league play. This week the two squads face off in a rematch of last year's ASUN Championship as the Ospreys took home the title last season.
In addition to North Florida and FGCU, Lipscomb and Stetson also clinched spots in the ASUN Championship this past weekend with victories.

North Florida continued its winning streak this past week defeating Lipscomb and Kennesaw State to improve to 5-0 in ASUN play. Against Lipscomb, Eva Nyikos/Lucia Montano paired up to win 6-2, before the No. 1 pair of Luise Intert/Rafaela won by the same score. Freshman Florencia Rossi made quick work of Kateryna Kandyba as she took the No. 6 singles match for the 2-0 lead. Lipscomb then got on the board with a win in the No. 2 spot before freshman Valentina Mariotto grabbed the victory at the No. 5 spot for the 3-1 advantage. The Ospreys then cruised to a 4-0 win over Kennesaw State on Saturday. North Florida once again grabbed the doubles point, this time with wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Playing in the No. 4 spot, freshman Valentina Mariotto took down Jessica Cantrell, 6-0, 6-2. Intert battled from three games down in the opening set to win, 7-5 and then defeated Kennedy Craig as she shut her out in set two, 6-0.
FGCU also continued its hot streak as the Eagles downed NJIT and USC Upstate at home moving to 4-0 in conference play. The Eagles first defeated the Highlanders 6-1 as they took two of the three doubles matches to start things off. In No. 2 doubles, Madison Gallegos/Patricia Villar dominated NJIT's Advaita Saravanan/Amanda Helminsky 6-1. The Highlanders' Mayar Eltony claimed their lone point in the No. 2 singles spot against FGCU's Julia Ascua. On Saturday, FGCU then blanked USC Upstate 7-0 as the Eagles started off the match with a pair of victories provided by Ascua and Bridget Forster. Maja Ornberg secured the victory claiming the fourth point in No. 1 singles over USC Upstate's Carol Sigaki 6-2, 6-1.
On Thursday, Stetson almost blanked Kennesaw State with a convincing 6-1 victory at home. The Hatters opened up the match with two doubles victories in No. 3 tandem Vicky Geurinckx/Alexe Viaud earning a 6-3 win and No. 2 duo Arijana Korac/Danel Ashirova as Stetson grabbed an early 1-0 lead. Singles play began with several quick victories as Maxine Bateman got the first win at the No. 6 spot over Owls' Cristina Perez Martin 6-1, 6-1. Then at the No. 5 spot Brooke Milner followed as she took straight sets from Aspen Jarrett 6-3, 6-2. Korac capped the win for Stetson with a 6-1, 2-6, 7-0 win at No. 1. However, on Saturday the Hatters fell to Lipscomb 4-3 in a tightly contested match. Lipscomb took the doubles point as the Bisons' Madeleine Brooks/Kateryna Popova defeated Stetson's Korac/Ashirova in the No. 2 spot 6-4. No. 3 Lipscomb duo Thabile Tshatedi/Katerina Kandyba also grabbed a win taking down Geurinckx/Viaud. Both the Hatters and the Bisons earned three singles victories, however the determining factor was the doubles point.
