KSU's Mercado Earns First #ASUNWTEN Weekly Award for Owls Since 2014



LakePoint, Ga. - Kennesaw State's Alexandra Mercado garners the ASUN Player of the Week award for the Owls after going 3-1 as announced by the league office on Wednesday. 

The senior becomes the first player to win the award since the 2014 season for the Owls. Mercado grabbed three victories on the weekend out of four matches. She earned two wins at the No. 1 singles spot and one lone victory at No. 1 doubles with teammate Laura Hopton. The last Owls' women's tennis player to win the award was Virginie Stein in April of 2014.

- First Career ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor
- First award for Owls this season; first since 2014 
- Won three of four matches over the weekend against Wofford and Presbyterian 
- Grabbed two victories at No. 1 singles 
- Walked away with a win at No. 1 doubles alongside teammate Hopton against Presbyterian
