HILLSIDE, N.J. - No. 6 North Alabama collected its second-straight upset in the 2018 ASUN Women's Soccer Championship with a 3-0 victory against No. 2 NJIT on Sunday afternoon. The Lions advance to face top-seeded Lipscomb on Saturday, Nov. 3rd in Nashville at 6 PM CT.

Tay Cavett opened the scoring for the Lions in the 22nd minute as Shelby Wall delivered a ball into the box on a corner kick in which Cavett flicked towards the near post and into the net. It marked Cavett's third goal of the season and Wall's league-leading 10th assist. UNA took a 13-2 shot differential into halftime with five finding the frame.

NJIT dominated the first 20 minutes of the second half, nearly scoring on a multitude of chances as the Highlanders totaled eight shots to UNA's one after halftime. However, UNA goalkeeper Shelby Thornton was a force totaling four saves in her seventh shutout of the season. North Alabama delivered the backbreaking goal in the 74th minute as a defensive misplay resulted in an own goal giving the Lions the 2-0 advantage.

Anna Bove' capped the scoring for North Alabama in the 85th minute as her lofted shot over the NJIT keeper moved the scoreboard to 3-0 and sealed UNA's first-ever appearance in the ASUN Championship Final.
