#ASUNWSOC Preseason All-Conference Team Announced; FGCU Voted Favorite

Full Preseason All-Conference Awards

LakePoint, Ga. – The ASUN Conference announced the 2017 Women's Soccer Preseason All-Conference Awards on Monday afternoon as voted on by the eight league head coaches.

FGCU enters the season as the conference favorite to claim its eighth-straight ASUN Regular Season title. The Eagles racked up five first-place votes, with a total of 61 points, while the coaches predicted Lipsomb to finish in second-place. 

Jacksonville's, Joelle D'Entremont highlighted the Preseason superlative honors as Preseason Player of the Year, along with Emily Plotz of Stetson as Goalkeeper of the Year, while the Bisons' Niamh Rawlins earned the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year accolade.

2017 ASUN Women's Soccer Preseason All-Conference Team:
Goalkeeper: 
Emily Plotz, So., Stetson – Plotz, an All-Freshmen and Second-Team selection last season, recorded the third-lowest goals-against average in program history (0.96), ranking second in the ASUN. She had five shutouts, which were third in the ASUN despite playing fewer games than the players ahead of her. Plotz also registered a career-high of 10 saves against Campbell. 

Defenders:
Ashley Parks, Sr., FGCU – A 2016 ASUN First Team All-Conference, and Second Team NSCAA All-Southeast Region selection, Parks returns for her last season with FGCU. She helped anchor FGCU's defense that allowed an ASUN best of 17 goals and 10 clean sheets last year.  
Abby Roth, Sr., Kennesaw State – Roth, an ASUN Second-Team All-Conference and All-Academic selection last season, started a total of 19 games a year ago. In those matches, she scored three goals and recorded one assist from her defensive position. 
Niamh Rawlins, Sr., Lipscomb – The 2016 ASUN Defensive Player of the Year and two-time ASUN Preseason Defensive Player of the Year returns to anchor the Bisons defense this season. Rawlins helped Lipscomb record six shutouts last season and scored the game-winning goal vs. Stetson in the ASUN Championship Semifinal, her first career goal. 

Midfielders
Nikki Hudson, Sr., FGCU – Hudson, an essential piece to the FGCU midfield returns for her senior season. She played in 14 games last season, missing seven matches due to injury. 
Meaghan Mulligan, Sr., FGCU – As a junior, Mulligan led the conference with 10 assists, four coming in conference play, which was tied for the most in the ASUN in 2016. 
Isabella Contreras, So., Kennesaw State – A 2016 ASUN Second-Team All-Conference and All-Freshmen team selection, Contreras appeared in 16 games and started in 11. Last season, she was credited with four assists for the Owls. 
Leah Cernicky, So., Lipscomb  Cernicky earned a spot on the 2016 ASUN All-Freshmen team. She played in all 19 games for the Bisons, starting in 16. Cernicky also recorded one goal and two assists, totaling four points last season.
Lindsey Parent, So., Stetson  Last season, Parent was awarded ASUN All-Freshmen team honors, playing in 18 matches and starting in 15 for the Hatters. She ranked tied for second on the team in goals scored last season with three tallies.  

Forwards
Joelle D'Entremont, Sr., Jacksonville  Team captain and ASUN First Team All-Conference team last season, D'Entremont earns Preseason Player of the Year honors heading into 2017. She led the Dolphins with a team-high of 12 points on four goals and four assists. In addition, D'Entremont ranked third in the league with 54 total shots, 26 of them on target. 
Olivia Doak, So., Lipscomb  Doak, the 2016 ASUN Freshman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honoree, finished third overall in the ASUN with seven goals, the most of any freshman and tied for the most on the team last season. She started all 19 games as a freshman and led the team with 17 points in 2016. 
Sarah Collins, Sr., Stetson – A two-time ASUN First-Team All-Conference selection, Collins returns for her final season with the Hatters. She set a school record last year with 13 goals and 32 points. Collins enters her senior season needing 28 points and 8 goals to become Stetson's all-time leader in both categories.

For the sixth-straight year, the ASUN took to social media to poll the fans for the conference preseason superlative awards. Jacksonville's Joelle D'Entremont was the fans choice for Preseason Player of the Year with 312 votes. Stetson teammates' Emily Plotz (353 votes) and Annette Morton (204 votes) took home the fan-voted Preseason Goalkeeper and Defensive Player of the Year honors, respectively. A total of 2,844 votes for cast on the league's Facebook account this year. 

ASUN Women's Soccer enters its 25th seson, beginning Friday, August 18th with all eight teams in action.
