WASHINGTON, D.C. – History was made on Sunday when the Jacksonville University women's lacrosse team (6-2, 1-0 ASUN) completed its 24-3 victory over Howard (0-5, 0-1 ASUN) on the road. With the win, head coach Mindy McCord earned the 200th of her highly decorated career, her 130th as the head coach of the Dolphins.

McCord is in her 10th season as head coach for the Dolphins and has guided this program to a .714 winning percentage (130-52). Overall, this is her 30th season as a coach at the high school or collegiate level.

"The team was so excited for my 200th win and gave me a game ball," McCord said of her accomplishment. "They always rally together to help create special memories for each other and today I was an recipient of that. I am incredibly blessed to have a great staff by my side helping to elevate our teams success. Wins are truly a team effort. Having coached with Paul over the last 18 years and having Britt on staff going on her 4th year, and Danielle on staff for the last two years, as well as having had the honor of coaching Britt and Danielle in college brings tremendous consistency to our staff and helps to elevate our teams success. I am thankful to be able to coach a sport I love and mentor young women. These wins honor all of the current and past players and teams that I've been a part of which I am so grateful for."

Fifteen different Dolphins had at least a point in this game and eleven contributed multiple points. Fourteen Dolphins scored and six had multiple tallies with McKenna Rushford and Emma Wisdom each finding the back of the net four times, both off the bench.

"Great team win today," McCord continued. "We wanted to focus on discipline and communication through increasing our awareness and leadership today. We scored 24 goals on 35 shots which was extremely efficient."

The 38 points as a team are tied for second-most in program history, 24 goals are tied for third in program history and the 14 assists are tied for sixth all-time. Three players registered four points and six picked up three.

Jacksonville jumped ahead early and never looked back in this one, taking a 17-2 lead into the locker rooms before adding seven goals to the tally in the second half. While 24 goals are the most by JU in a game this season, the three goals allowed are the fewest by an opponent so far this spring.

Some more ASUN play will have to wait until April 5 when the Dolphins return to Jacksonville to face Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m. In the meantime, Jacksonville will host a pair of non-conference matchups at D.B. Milne field; first against Wofford on Mar. 29 and then against Furman on Mar. 31. Those games will get started at 4 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
