ATLANTA, Ga. - As the 2019 ASUN Women's Lacrosse season kicks off on February 8th, we take a closer look at each of the seven conference teams as they prepare for the upcoming season.

After the announcement of the women's lacrosse program in the summer of 2016, Kent State finally begins their inaugural season of play this spring. At the helm for the Golden Flashes is head coach Brianne Tierney. Tierney is no stranger to building programs, as she helped build Division III Lebanon Valley College from scratch in 2010. In just three years time at Lebanon Valley, Tierney was named 2012 Commonwealth Conference Coach of the Year and helped mentor the 2012 Player of the Year. From there, she moved on to Division I men's power, Denver. As the Director of Operations, she helped the Pioneers to back-to-back NCAA Semifinal runs. She also brings Division I experience from her stops at UC-Berkeley, Lafayette and Monmouth. Tierney, a 2007 graduate of Colgate, led the Raiders to two Patriot League titles as a student-athlete.

Kent State has a huge freshmen class of 24. Goalie Grace Merrill, midfielders Abby Jones and Alexis Parker, and attacker Megan Kozar highlight the freshmen class. Merrill, a four-year letter winner at Jackson High School in Canton, Ohio, was a First Team All-State selection. Jones was a two-time All-State selection at Blaine High School in Coon Rapids, Minn., while Parker was also an All-State selection in Minnesota. Kozar was a two-time State Champion at Upper Arlington High School in Ohio, and was a three year member of the All-Academic team.

The Golden Flashes will play their home games at Dix Stadium, which is also home to Kent State football. Dix Stadium is a 25,000 seat stadium built in 1969 and has gone under renovations several time, most recently in 2008. Kent State will play their first-ever home game on February 16th when they host Robert Morris. The Golden Flashes begin their inaugural season of play on February 10th when they take on in-state foe Cincinnati.
