KSU's Caldwell Advances to Match Play at 2017 U.S. Women's Amateur

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Kennesaw State's Madison Caldwell advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at the at the 6,423-yard, par-72 San Diego Country Club on Tuesday.

Needing to place in the top 64 to advance, Caldwell posted rounds of 75-71 for a 2-over par total of 146 to finish tied for 23rd. The rising junior made nine pars and three birdies in her opening round o on Monday. She carded 5 birdies and 10 pars during her second round. She became the second player in program history to reach the match play portion of the U.S. Women's Amateur joining Ket Preamchuen who did it in 2011.

The Milton, Ga. native will take on Janet Mao from Johns Creek, Ga. in Wednesday's opening round of match play beginning at 4:30 EST. Mao is a rising junior at Northwestern.  

FS1 will broadcast the five days of match play from the tournament, showing the Amateur from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST each day. USGA.com will have early coverage Aug.10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST and Aug. 13 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EST.

Aug. 11 (Friday) – Quarterfinals, match play
Aug. 12 (Saturday) – Semifinals, match play
