LakePoint, Ga. - Jacksonville University's Michelle Forsland has been named as ASUN Conference Women's Golf Freshmen of the Year, the conference announced on Monday.
Forsland earns the recognition alongside USC Upstate's Pan Paksonant, who was awarded the honor at the Championship banquet on April 15. Following the Championship, a review of voting procedures revealed that Forsland was also deserving of the honor, as an unanticipated discrepancy in vote casting created a tainted initial result.
Forsland, who averaged 74.90 through 20 rounds during the regular season, joined Paksonant on the ASUN Women's Golf All-Freshmen Team. She finished the regular season with a +3.05 vs. par scoring with a low round of 70, while posting a pair of Top-20 finishes and one Top-10 result.
Paksonant became the first Spartan to garner the award, leading USC Upstate in scoring average at 76.09 after playing all nine events for the Spartans. She played 22 total rounds and compiled four top-10 finishes.
