Jacksonville & North Florida Earn First Wins of Season in Home-Openers

LakePoint, Ga. - Jacksonville and North Florida boasted its first wins of the season in home-openers on Monday. The Dolphins battled Iona coming out victorious, while the Ospreys dominated against Warner.

North Florida defeated Warner 74-38 earning its first win of the season. Four Ospreys scored in double figures, but sophomore Adrienne Jackson led the offense recording 18 points. The Ospreys never let up leading the entire game, while holding the Royals to single digits in every quarter, except for 14 points in the third quarter. North Florida resumes its season schedule with the next four games on the road, beginning with Morehead State on Friday. 

Another first season win goes to Jacksonville, as the Dolphins put away Iona in a 71-62 victory. Naqaiyyah Teague showed up for the Dolphins leading the team with 16 points, six rebounds and two steals, setting a career-high. Newcomer, Shakayla Nevitt also got in on the action tallying up 10 points, two rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block. Jacksonville resumes non-conference play against Alabama, Thursday with a 12:30 PM start. 

Kennesaw State displayed a great performance in the first half against SEC opponent Ole Miss. The Owls took the lead four different times and at one point held the lead for over 10 minutes. The Rebels came back in the second half firing up their offensive efforts to eventually win 92-63. 

ASUN Women's Basketball continues Wednesday when Stetson hosts Chattanooga at 5 PM and closes out with Lipscomb at Ball State at 7 PM, live on ESPN3.
