LakePoint, Ga. - ASUN Men's Tennis conference play finished up this past weekend when squads competed for championship seeding. To highlight the action, Stetson clinched the No. 2 seed over FGCU in the last regular season match of the year. Lipscomb, Kennesaw State and USC Upstate also picked up victories to close out the weekend.

Lipscomb started off the week with a 4-3 win over USC Upstate at home. The match was tight against the Bisons and the Spartans, until freshman Francesco Tacconi came in clutch at the No. 6 spot to clinch the victory for Lipscomb. Tacconi battled it out through three sets against USC Upstate's Lucas Percy, but took the win 5-7, 7-6, 6-2. In singles, USC Upstate's Felix Ewers defeated Alejandro Manzanares in the No. 1 spot, Fernando Bernardes claimed a win at No. 3 and Luka Eble at No. 4. The Bisons continued their hot streak against NJIT on Friday beating the Highlanders by the same score of 4-3. NJIT clinched the doubles point early on in the match, but Lipscomb's seniors Manzanares and Daniel Cardenas grabbed two crucial singles victories that helped the Bisons slide past the Highlanders. Victor Chaw continued his impressive sophomore campaign improving to 14-4 in singles play at the No. 2 spot as he downed NJIT's Jan Cimrman 6-3, 6-3. Lipscomb claims the No. 4 seed in the ASUN Championship and finishes the regular season 8-11 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
Stetson clinched the No. 2 seed in the ASUN Championship with a 5-2 victory at FGCU on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles grabbed the doubles point to start off the day, however Stetson claimed five singles victories to take the win. Hatters' Malik Bhatnagar defeated Felipe Escobar 6-4, 6-2 in No. 1 singles and Loic Blano took down Felipe Ramirez at the No. 2 spot. FGCU's Javier Fernandez took the Eagles' lone win in singles at the No. 6 spot defeating Stetson's Coilin MacNamara 5-7, 6-4, 10-3. Stetson clinched the No. 2 seed in the tournament and a second round bye, as FGCU finishes with the third seed.
Kennesaw State went 1-1 on the week, but clinched the No. 5 seed in the ASUN Championship with a 6-1 win over NJIT. The Owls began Thursday action claiming the doubles point as duos, Fermin Calvo Barcelo/Manuel Castellanos and Drew Lahey/Bryan Triana won their matches at the No. 1 and 2 spots. In singles, reigning ASUN Player of the Week, Calvo Barcelo won his 12th consecutive match over Tomi Antoljak 6-3, 6-1. On Saturday, the Owls fell 5-2 to USC Upstate as the Spartans won two doubles matches and came out on top in three singles matches. The Spartans' Ignacio Garrido/Francisco Neto defeated Calvo Barcelo/Castellanos at No. 1 doubles and Luke Eble/Felix Ewers took down Lahey/Triana at No. 2. In singles, Ankush Aora beat Corey Smith 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot and USC Upstate grabbed every singles match from then on.
The ASUN Men's Tennis Championship takes place Apr. 20-22 hosted by North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.
