Lipscomb Faces Butler in Opening Round of NCAA College Cup on Thursday

NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Central | NCAA College Cup Bracket 

LakePoint, Ga. – The 2017 ASUN Conference Men's Soccer Champions, Lipscomb are headed to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on the Butler Bulldogs in the opening round of the 2017 NCAA College Cup. The game is scheduled for Thursday night, with a kickoff set for 6 PM CT. Fans can watch the action on Facebook Live.

The Bisons (11-7-2) advanced to their first NCAA Championship appearance by winning the 2017 ASUN Championship title after an incredible run in the past two weeks. In the first round, Lipscomb won a penalty shootout with NJIT as Luke Wilson came off the bench to make two saves in goal. In the semifinal, Lipscomb defeated FGCU on the road thanks to a Logan Paynter game-winning goal. This past Saturday, the Bisons went on the road again and became the first No. 6 seed in ASUN Men's Soccer history to capture the title with a 2-1 win at Jacksonville.

Lipscomb ASUN Championship Final Highlights:

Dating back to 2002, Lipscomb has never faced off with Butler in a regular season matchup. The Bulldogs are 12-4-2 on the season, including going 8-1 in Big East Conference play. Butler fell in the Big East Semifinals to Xavier on penalty kicks, after playing to a 2-2 draw. The team is led offensively by Brandon Guhl who has scored 10 goals and added four assists on the season for Butler. The Bulldogs played in the Second Round of the NCAA Championship last season, but fell to SIU Edwardsville in a penalty shootout.
