Three Sunday Wins Complete Opening Weekend of @ASUNMBB

LakePoint, Ga. - Three ASUN Conference Men's Basketball teams earned victories to close opening weekend of the 2017-18 season with two league squads remaining undefeated on the year.

Garrison Mathews produced another monster outing with 25 points in Lipscomb's 77-70 victory against Morehead State to open the year 2-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season. Rob Marberry (18 points, 13 rebounds) and Eli Pepper (12 points, nine rebounds) were a force down low for the Bisons as the tandem made a combined 10-of-15 from the field. Marberry added three blocks, while Pepper dished out two assists.

Stetson improved to 2-0 for the second-straight season with a 70-64 overtime victory at FIU. BJ Glasford led the team in scoring with 19 points, while Luke Doyle (13) and Divine Myles (11) combined for 24 points. Glasford hit the go-ahead shot towards the end of regulation before FIU equaled the score on a last-second trifecta. In overtime, the Hatters closed on a 6-0 run starting with Divine Myles jumper with 46 seconds left before four free throws from Angel Rivera sealed the win.

First-year Head Coach Kyle Perry collected his first victory with USC Upstate in the Spartans' 85-66 triumph against Allen in the Hodge Center. Four Spartans finished in double-figure scoring with a team-high 18 from Malik Moore and 17 by Jure Span. Mike Cunningham contributed 12 points, while Deion Holmes poured in 13 off the bench. In the victory, Upstate connected on 14 three pointers on 36 attempts.

Jacksonville fell to 0-2 on the season as the Dolphins lost to Georgetown, 73-57, in the coaching debut of Patrick Ewing. JD Notae (18) and Tanner Rubio (15) combined for 33 points in the loss as JU looks to rebounds with a contest against North Carolina A&T on Saturday, Nov. 18th.
