    ATLANTA, GA. - Jacob deGrom put up historic numbers during his 2018 campaign with the New York Mets and has been voted the winner of the 2018 Major League Baseball National League Cy Young Award in recognition of his dominant status during the season. deGrom received 29 of 30 first-place votes with the other going to Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals.

    BOSTON, MA- The FGCU Eagles woke up Monday morning with their first World Series Champion after Boston Red Sox ace and former Eagle Chris Sale closed out the Los Angeles Dodgers late Sunday night in game five to clinch Beantown's fourth title in the past 15 years.

    BOSTON, MA- Former FGCU ace Chris Sale has taken the baseball in his fair share of big games throughout his career.  In July he started the All-Star Game for the third straight year for the American League (the first overall to do since 1955 and by an AL hurler since 1935). In recent weeks he has started both game one of the ALDS and the ALCS for the Boston Red Sox.  But Tuesday, he will toe the rubber in the biggest game of his baseball career, as manager Alex Cora has announced that Sale will start the opener of the 2018 World Series vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers.
  • Flames Baseball Spends Fall Break in the Dominican Republic

    LYNCHBURG, Va. - Over Liberty's Fall Break, from Oct. 3-7, the Flames' baseball team participated in an LU Send trip to the Dominican Republic to serve the communities of Boca Chica, San Pedro De Macoris, and Santo Domingo. They partnered with the Rawlings Foundation, in leading a youth baseball clinic on an adjacent field co-owned by the San Francisco Giants. The players and coaching staff also visited an orphanage for disabled kids, delivered food to an outlying village, played a few games against local teams, and shared the Gospel wherever they went.

Corey Kluber (Stetson/Cleveland Indians), Jacob deGrom (Stetson/New York Mets) and Chris Sale (FGCU/Boston Red Sox) are all in the running for the Cy Young in their respective leagues. Kluber and Sale have been the aces of two division champions, while deGrom just wrapped up one of the best seasons in baseball history.
