LakePoint, Ga. - Jacksonville's offense scored early and often, while North Florida clinched a spot in the ASUN Conference Baseball Championship to highlight Sunday's action. NJIT earned its first league series win as they downed Kennesaw State in a rubber match on the road.

Jacksonville's offense exploded for 15 runs on 18 hits to trounce USC Upstate 15-3 and sweep the weekend series at Harley Park. Ruben Someillan went 4-for-6 and scored three runs. Scott Dubrule continued his hot weekend with the bat driving in two more runs. Connor Stephens, Chris Lehane, and Angel Camacho each collected three RBI as the Dolphins scored three runs in the first to set the tone. They added two runs in the third, fourth and fifth inning to push the lead to a comfortable margin, before icing the game with a five-run eighth. Tyler Santana pitched 6.1 innings and improved his record to 9-1 on the season, allowing only three runs on six hits and striking out seven Upstate batters.
North Florida secured another conference series win as the Ospreys took the rubber match 3-1 against the visiting Lipscomb Bisons. Brad Depperman picked up his second win of the season after pitching 8.0 quality innings. He only allowed one run, a Jeffrey Crisan solo homer in the fourth, but was in control for most of the afternoon. The offense came around in the bottom of the seventh when Max Law came off the bench to deliver a two-run single to make it a 2-1 North Florida lead. Abraham Sequera followed that up with an RBI single to right field to make it 3-1. Nick Marchese pitched the ninth and collected his second save of the year to close out the weekend at Harmon Stadium. Based on the results of today's league action, the Ospreys become the fourth team to clinch a spot in the ASUN Championship, which will be played at their home park at Harmon Stadium later this month.
NJIT picked up its first league series win of the season as the Highlanders won 3-2 at Kennesaw State to close out the weekend. Jesse Uttendorfer delivered the game-winning hit in the seventh inning with an RBI single. Tommy Derer picked up the win in relief, while Johnny Malatesta pitched two innings to earn his fifth save of the season. The Owls took the early lead in the third inning, but NJIT answered with a run in the fourth. Michael Anastasia doubled in a run in the sixth to give NJIT the 2-1 lead, but the Owls came right back in the bottom half with Terence Norman grabbing an RBI single to score Grant Williams. In the seventh, Uttendorfer smashed a single to right field to score Tom Brady. The Owls had a chance in the ninth to tie it up as Garrett Hodges led off the inning with a double. Malatesta bared down though and got a big strikeout and then a fly out to end the threat and the game.
Today's results also give Stetson a share of the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the 2018 ASUN Baseball Championship. The tournament will be played in Jacksonville, Fla. at Harmon Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida from May 23-26.
